Overthinking

Finally cashed in a Stars Sunday Million donkament. Extra donkified 10,000+ players with a prize pool in excess of $2 million. Finished 427 for $800ish but I cost myself the chance to make it further.

In this case I was overthinking, instead of making pretty much a standard play from any other player I think. I also had a peak at the next payout structure which is a big no-no. Goal is the top prize, not an extra few hundred.

Here is the hand

While you may have had a great hand, you're basically in for a race against that big stack. Here you have a raise and a re-raise ahead. Ya, Ace King is a nice hand, but it basically sux when it misses a flop. You could have 2 overcards, but is this the place that you want to race at? Tough call, but if you win you're going to be sitting pretty, otherwise it's the end of your tournament.

1) $800 ain't too bad Actyper so don't get down on yourself.

2) fold that stuff... that's what I do... but wait you're way better at tourneys then me.... so what's the play?

What I failed to do was think and calculate my M correctly. (I didn't take into consideration the antes). Usually I don't bother when antes are small, but at 600 they make up a nice portion.

With an M of 4, easy push for me.

I ended up folding. Both guys turned over AQ. Would have tripled up. Probably wouldn't have lasted too much longer as about 10 hands later went out JJ vs AK. But still.

This hand is an easy call. Being short stacked, there's not much more you can hope for. The only concern you may have is if someone has AA - either the orignal raiser, the reraiser, or the BB.

Against any other hand, you're no worse than a 3 to 1 dog. Even against KK, you have the proper pot odds with the blinds, antes, and the chips in the pot already.

As a short stack, this is an automatic all in. This would be entirely different if you were one of the large stacks in the tourney.

The only way you can fold the hand is if you have an incredible read and know one of your opponents has AA a high percent of the time.

I push but then I would have pushed probably a few times prior to that.

sorry for the late response but yes you push/call. No respect for the button reraise allin. He sees a small/weak bet in front of him that he wants to take down.
