Be a Chameleon! SnG: 6max vs Full

I've concluded that I need to do a better job at adapting.

Current Strengths:
Ring games (short handed, NL & FL)
SnG (SH)
MTT

Current Weakness
Ring games (Full table limit and nl)
SnG (Full table, 1 or 2 tables)

Ring games:
Been playing on Poker Share and Poker Stars. Doing well on the 6 max tables at both 3/6 limit and $100nl. Haven't played a full table in a long time, but just listed it there from my poker rewards April play. Was probably playing too many hands there, and bluffing more than I should have. I prefer the more aggressive short handed play where I can take advantage of the tighty whities and catch the maniacs off guard.

Sit n Gos:
This is my biggest discrepency. On Titan 6max sngs, my last 20 I have won 12. Not money, but won at a 60% rate. Additionally I have monied (top 3) in another 2. I guess I don't lose when I'm final 3. 4 of those no placings was when I was on tilt after my failed jackpot win. Now on other sites (qualifiers - full table), Poker Share, Full Contact, Poker Stars, I haven't won anything in a while. Once again I think I'm playing too many hands on the full tables, will have to cut back and see what happens.

Multi Table Tournaments
I think my MTT game is back at a higher level. No first place winnings but have had good placings in May. Last night finished 11th ($210) in the PSO Poker Rewards freeroll, just bubbling out of the final table. Tried a blind steal with A3s as the 2nd shortest stack, but got caught by QQ. Oh well, sometimes you get caught. Blind stealing got me going the whole tourney. Figured out the tities and played against them aggressively. Needed it as I couldn't win races all night. Lost a lot of $ with AK as well. Wanted to reread my Harrington books during my vacation but didn't get a chance to. Ended up reading Book of Bluffs by Matt Lesinger and Kill Phil by Blair Rodman and Lee Nelson. Book of Bluffs is recomended, nice read. Kill Phil wasn't really. Pretty much a book telling you to go allin on most hands. Some sections and points were good, but the rest is just mumbo jumbo IMO.

WPT Canada

Can't wait. If anybody knows of any qualifiers let me know. Eventually I'll put together a full list. This will be my new #1 goal after the wsop has taken place.

Overlooking One of The World's Natural Wonders, The Niagara Fallsview Casino Will Play Host to October WPT Event

Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, Bill Edler and Evelyn Ng may be the most illustrious Canadian poker players on the world stage, but come October the WORLD POKER TOUR(R) will offer a look at who else might be Canadian stars-in-the-making when the Tour inaugurates its first stop north of the border at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. The WPT has selected Canada's luxurious new gaming mecca, overlooking the famous Niagara Falls, as the site of its third annual North American Poker Championship, October 25-29.

The elegant Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort is the premier casino and resort facility in Canada, with 3,000 slot machines, 150 gaming tables and a dedicated poker room, a 368-room luxury hotel, a full-service spa and fitness facility, a 1,500-seat showroom, 30,000 square feet of convention, conference and meeting space, a wide selection of restaurants and boutiques and one of the most famous and spectacular views in the world.

"By staging the North American Poker Championship in this beautiful Canadian casino, we put out the welcome mat for all poker enthusiasts in Canada and truly lay down the gauntlet to see who can reign supreme on the continent," said Steve Lipscomb, CEO and founder of WPT Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WPTE). "We are thrilled to welcome the Niagara Fallsview to the WPT family and look forward to an inspiring and exciting event that will attract players from both sides of the border."

Niagara Fallsview marks the third international location on the WPT tournament calendar for Season V, joining Paris' Aviation Club (Grand Prix de Paris) and the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas (Pokerstars' Caribbean Adventure).

"All of us at the Fallsview Casino are very excited to be working with the WPT to bring a premiere International Poker event like this to Canada," said Fallsview General Manager Steve Wolstenholme. "Our casino is ready to lay out the red carpet for the WPT, the players, and the fans as they join us here in Niagara Falls. We plan to make the Fallsview Casino Resort the home of the premiere poker events in Canada and will have some other exciting announcements to make in the coming weeks about our plans with the WPT moving forward."

Rio, sucks to be me.

Decided to just go ahead and play my final Rio despite all the temptations. Finished 3rd. No $55k for me, not even a $300 consolation prize for 2nd. And the hand I was eliminated with. AA vs 33. Flopped a 3, dude went allin, and I couldn't fold my AA. Didn't even think about it for a sec, now I'm 2nd guessing myself. Was hoping he had A7. Oh well, guess I have to do it allover again.

Weekend Happenings

First of all, I'd like to congratulate RiverRun on winning the PSO league and earning a WSOP event seat. Great job!

Played some cash games on PokerShare to fulfill a pokersourceonline promo. Up and down, people chase and sometimes they catch. Can't get any good 3/6 limit games there anymore. Settled on mostly $100nl sh, and 1/2 limit sh.

On the tourney front, I was once again close to a WSOP seat but fell short once again. This time I came 4th, but at least I got $60 this time for my 4hrs of play. Played great poker, stayed top 7 in chips from the 1st break and on. Was 2nd/3rd when 4 handed but played too aggressively against Navajo who started playing more aggressively than me! He busted me when he caught his J on the river against my K high. PSO final game came 20th. Donked out which I'll explain later. Qualified for the next round in the UB millionaire challenge. Took 3 hrs to make it to the top 100 out of 1500, but only played it as I was already playing other tournies anyways.

On the Casino front, an ok month. +$40 from InterCasino. +£70 from Littlewoods. -$20 from Casino Glamour when they gave me a 500% reload. Haven't won my $2.5 millionaire club jackpot yet. Haven't even gotten to the final round this month. Thats about it, casino hunting is slowly dying.

My New Pet Peeve
In tournies, i'm running into a lot of players who now use the excuse "I had the odds". First example; blinds are 50/100. Short stack UTG raises allin to $400. UTG+1 calls, Goofball calls (1/4 of his stack), and me the bigger stack calls with 98s. When all was said and done, Goofball wins with Q6. When I ask the Goofball on his reasoning, he's here talking about implied odds and other crap and then says the pot odds were good. Buddy, most scenarios you encounter will give you 2:1 odds. Doesn't mean you call with any 2 cards everytime the pot is good. Oh well I let him be. I got the same scenario later on that tourney when somebody called my allin getting 2:1 with K9. Risking almost 1/2 his stack on that garbage.

One final note, but not to jinx myself, I've now won 5 Rio Jackpot sitngos in a row. Actually got a 2nd before that but noticed in the T&Cs that they have to be done within a 30day period. Right now its at about $45k if I win my 6th. Too nervous to play yesterday, might give it a shot today. Crossing my fingers!

I am Super Bubbleboy!!! I love Steak! Hopefully its rare

This is why my stomach hurts now... can't believe I can still type.

$1 million dollar qualifier
Result = 2nd. Though didn't stand a chance heads up against quackpot, a extremely good player. He had just under $12k, I had about $1600. Winnings = 2% stake I think.

WSOP qualifier
Courtesy of Bluff Magazine. Winner gets a $1500 wsop seat. 2nd gets a chocolate glazed donut. Was always a high stack. Took a risk early on when I called preflop with my JJ. Held up against AK. Made some unusual plays with Arag. Me raising preflop, shorter stacks pushing afterwards. My reasoning behind calling, the chance to eliminate 2 good players without hurting too much of my stacks. I actually won a lot of races throughout the night ... that is before heads up took over.

Final Table
Never had my allins called, didn't have too many of my preflop raises called. Some dimwit decided to be greedy and forfit the opportunity to get 1% stake from the winner. He got knocked out 4th, after getting lucky and staying alive forever. Bad beat for Jeremy W when his KK was overcome by Ax, knocking him out in 3rd.

Headsup
Yukon867 and I decide on an extra 5% stake in eachother, for 6% in total. He started out as just under a 2:1 favourite. Here is heads up play, bolded ones in particular

Conclusion
I thought I played an awesome headsup game, luck just wasn't on my side. Tiltish on my 77 reraise allin. My KT hand I could have slowplayed a bit more. JJ late I could have just limped in, but figured I've been raising most of the time anyways, one day he'll play back. A3 vs T8 could have raised allin preflop, though I wanted a call. AJ vs A4 would have turned it around in my favour again.

So two 2nds within an hr of each other, and nothing but steak to show for it. Better be some good damn steak!!!

Cruise Report!

Finally got back home, 2am this morning. My Honeymoon Cruise (albeit 8 months later) was awesome, and if you feel like reading here are the highlights of what happened... I'll probably edit throught the week and add pictures later, don't really feel like typing out a novel.

Day 1 - San Juan Puerto Rico
Flight at 645am via US Airways with a connection in Philadelphia. Got to Philadelphia and hopped aboard my next flight. Delayed 3 hours sitting on the plane!!! First it was a computer problem, then after we pulled on the runaway they said the pilot's cabin door would not lock. Stupid terrorists, stupid us airways. Arrived in San Juan, boarded the ship: Royal Caribbean - Adventure of the Seas. Didn't do too much, was tired. Played at the Casino, they had 1 poker table. 5/10 limit. No foldem, played an hr, made like $5.

Day 2 - St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands
Shopping during the day, and Koki beach in the afternoon. Probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Water was crystal clear, drop a pin and you can find it no problem. Beautiful and friendly island. Poker play that night netted me $65 or so.

Day 3 - St. Maarten
Same thing shopping through the day, beach early afternoon, casino late afternoon. Right off the dock, place looked like disneyworld, all colourful. Picked up some Guavaberry rum. Only made in St. Maarten. Guavaberry Colada was simply delicious. Maho beach is the coolest beach experience you might ever find. Beach is located right in front of the airport. As planes land, the land right directly above you! And I"m not talking about just dinky little planes either, were talking 747s. The worst though was the take off. For some reason we decided to camp out right below the flight line. When the big plane took off, so did all our stuff on the beach! A buddy that we made on that trip also got attacked by a barracuda. Cool shit, though I didn't see it. Casino Royale was small but nice. Poker room did not open until 9pm. So played BJ with some high roller betting $500/hand. I was betting $10. Looked funny. No poker play that night.

Day 4 - Antigua
Little small island, not much to do. Went to the beach and rented a jet ski. Didn't wipe out, though I sorted wanted to. Did some crazy stuff, but not pushing it as hard as I could of. On the beach found a lizard and got it to crawl up my arm and chill on my back for a while. +25 from poker that night.

Day 5 - St. Lucia
Woke up early in the morning to go Deep Sea Fishing. Was so hyped. 4 hours later came back with absolutely nothing. Not a single fish for the boat. What a bummer, ended up costing $135 for 1 beer, 1 coke, 1 sprite, and a boat ride. Saw some seagulls though! Decided to tryout some Bingo. We won our 1st card after 6 numbers were called! $100. Expensive $35 package though. Did a rock climb on the ship, man was that hard. Still made it too the top, but was exhausted afterwards.

Day 6 - Barbados
Great, we arrive and find out its a national holiday. Pretty much everything is closed. Greedy taxi drivers there, try to rip you off. Boatyard beach was sweet. Did a glass botton boat ride / snorkel thing. Same some sunken ships, some fish, and some sea turtles. Wanted to swim with sea turtles, but the excursion was fully booked. Poker play that night +$80. Bingo for a cruise that night, not even close to winning.

Day 7 - Sea Day
Finally checked out the pool on the last day! Small ones, I expected some large connecting pools. Salt water too. Pretty much suntanned throughout the day. Bingo that night was the final guaranteed jackpot, $3800. We got to 1 number to go, but the guy next to us won instead. Baaad poker night, -$200.

Day 8 - Travel Day back home
Biggest waste of a day that I've ever had. Woke up at 8am. Lined up to get out of the boat, lined up at the airport. San Juan airport only has 1 gate that everybody passes though! Our flight to Philadelphia though stupid US Airways was supposed to be at 2:30, boarding at 1:50. 1:50 passes by, nothing. I line up at the desk. 2:30 comes, nothing. I get to the front of the line. WTF happened to my plane. "Sir your flight was cancelled". WTF!!! No annoucements, board still says On Time! Ended up taking a flight through Charlotte, and got hope a bit before 2am. 3 hrs later than I was supposed to. And I still don't know where my friggen luggage is!!!!

Food & Drinks
Food was pretty good. If you ate on the ship, standard buffet breakfasts and lunches. Dinner was where it was at. Ate plentiful starters, steaks galore, and pigged out on the lobster tails. Didn't get wasted on the trip. Drinks were crazy strong. Drank a lot of girlie drinks. Tried a national beer on each island. Carib was good, so was the Barbados one, Pitan brand was ok. Brought home a lot of hot sauce and a bunch of jerk sauce. Plus a 1L bottle of Mount Gay (hehe) rum for $8. Alcohol was dirt cheap, but didn't want to carry too much back. We can't bring back too much anyways. Also a carton of Marlies for $12, sweet. Only polished off 1 pack though (social smoker).

Poker
As you can imagine poker play was no foldem holdem. 1 7man table, waiting list everyday. Longest I waited was 1 hr. I was one of the only ones raising preflop. Only a couple of other decent players, and tells galore. Though it was a bit tougher playing against several Deaf players that made up a large group on the ship. My best hand was quad Qs, which got called down. Worst hand I saw was..
Raise, reraise, call, blinds fold.
Flop AA6
Bet, raise, call, call.
Turn 3.
Bet, raise, call, call.
River 4.
Check, bet, call, call.

Original preflop raiser had QQ, reraiser had AK, Caller had 75o. Ugly ugly stuff.

Biggest pot I saw was when quad 10s beat a fullhouse and a doofus thinking 2 pair was good. Capped at turn and river.

On my last day, kept loosing to the same garbage, 2 pairs, and aggressively playing strong draws that never hit. Won 2.5 hands in 2 hrs.

Conclusion
Awesome trip. Everybody should tryout a cruise if they haven't already. Didn't get seasick at all, felt it a little the first day, but fine every day after. Took that Bonimine stuff, worked like a charm. Sea days stink, beaches rule. Could like there all day. Especially at Koki beach, where even they take your food order for you while lying on your chair. Spent around $7k for the whole trip, so was pretty pricy, but definately worth it. Gratuities kill ya, automatic 15% plus also a line on each receipt that says "Additional Tip". Will more than likely do another cruise in a few years, thats if I don't win a poker cruise trip first!

Bon Voyage!

I'm off to enjoy a 7 night southern caribbean cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean "Adventure of the Seas". Been a few years since my last vacation so this will be a much need break. Boarding out of Puerto Rico, then stopping off in Antigua, Barbados, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. Unfortunately the World Poker Showdown happens in St. Maarten a couple days after I arrive there. Will check out the casino there though. Best of luck with your online gambling this week!

Losing Concentration / Needing to make a move

Played in the Poker Stars million dollar guaranteed yesterday. 4500 players so there was some overlay. Played pretty solid, up until towards the 2nd break. Had 4500 chips, average was about 6k, but was at my table average. One guy put all his chips in with A3, and doubled up off of AT. Then stole the blinds for the next 3 until it got to me. Holding A8s, I pushed back all in, but to my surprise he woke up with AK. Two hearts on the flop, but none of my remaining 12 outs appeared and I was out.

So I wasted 2 hours of solid play on a play that I didn't necessarily need to make. Would a stop and go have been better? Possibly, especially on that flop. I'm pretty sure I could have easily made the money staying at this table as I had most players figured out. Though as always, I'll play to win. Usually I'll have another table open to keep me from playing too much, but my other tourney ended early when somebody thought QTs was worth calling over half your stack off preflop.

Finally a good MTT result

Played the Blogger Poker tour match today on Blogger Poker Tour - Poker.com. Ended up finishing 2nd.

Started hot early, with a made straight on the turn and got all my chips in. Stayed top 5 for a while, and then got hit hard. KK vs TT. Other guy puts all his chips in on the Q high flop, and I called. Low and behold he already made his set. Rest of the tourney played pretty much All-in or nothing.

When I made the final table, one hand that propelled me was pocket 4s. Min raised, BB called. Set on the flop. He went all in with AJ (TPTK), and I quickly called. Never looked back on the chip lead.

Top 4 made it to the Finals. Buddy Lifesagrind made it to the final 4 as well. Had a scary moment vs him with the dreaded JJ, but luckily they held up vs his Ax. Heads up was me vs DamRiver who played a very solid game. I tried bullying him, but overcommitted on 2nd pair when he held top pair. Congrats and good luck in the final. I eventually went allin with K9 vs 76. Flopped 7 and thats all she wrote.

Not much $ difference between 1st and 2nd ($125 vs $100), but would probably have boosted my confidence a little bit more. Oh well at least I'm through now!

lol at bots

There have been recent discussion in several poker forums lately about possible bots playing $22 sitngos on Party Poker. The list of bot names are

1 ragra
2 frnchrev
3 lvstrg
4 thathy
5 hnglos
6 sanroad
7 micmonn
8 k1muller
9 trvndrm
10 remick2
11 mdwlrk
12 bmpcch
13 iluvaks
14 rswhlr
15 dabsop
16 josamart
17 cufutbl
18 pbnsub

Now I checked my recent hand history, and in fact have played with 3 of these things, 4 times in total. Their best result was a 5th. Thats a nice 0 for 4. Characteristics are that they play tight, and when they do bet they go "allmost allin" late in the sng.

So if you ever see these guys playing, go signup for the room. These bots stink. A combination of party maniacs with sucky bots, equals easy money. No wonder why my $20 Party ITM/ROI is so good.

So close to $2million, what a tease.

Finished my InterCasino wr at $300 for a profit of $200, so as customary I play some slots to give some $ back. The millionaire jackpot is over $2 million now. You get this jackpot by getting 3 of those Club symbols and then play some bonus game. 4 levels of play, you advance to each level by hitting the down arrow on your roulette type of spin. I made it to the last level, and then hits the $100. If you make it to that last level, I'm not sure on the exact odds, but I think its 1in7 to the jackpot. I feel like puking, so close. My dreams will have to wait.

edit:

meh, must be easier than I thought to make it to the final ring. Just did it again. Oh well, now I have $100 left to go for the gold. The third time better be the charm.

edit again:

ok finally got a screenshot of this thing, after making it to the final round again!

All I had to do was get the middle to arrows to match, and the jackpot was mine. Looks like it was a 1/12 chance. Well since I've already done it 3 times, maybe in 9 more times I'll hit it! Oh well at least I have $175 left to go for this now.

edit 4/13....

lots of bonus spins, only made it down to the final 1 time. So thats 4 times in total, only 8 more times now :) Down to $100 though.

edit 4/17

My dream is finally over ... until next month. Finally busted. Got to the middle a couple more times, but nothing. Hope its still around in May!

STT vs MTT, I finally win a MTT, well sort of.

Lately I've been trying to improve my currently struggling MTT game. My STT game has been awesome, so I have been puzzled by my lack of results. R1verrun has offerered me some advice, he is the current leader in the PSO League. Thanks.

Last night I played 3 MTTs. Bluff Poker Tour on VIP Poker, I went out 60ish out of 200, when my 88 did not hold up against an AJ. J on the turn. Poker Stars $1million qualifier. 120 people top 20 qualify, I go out 28th. Doh! WSOP Double Shootout qualifier, 70 players. I win my first table pretty easily. Final table, I build my stack nicely, especially on a flopped straight, and an opponnent flopped 2 pair. Played a nice aggressive game. End up heads up, and the guy wants to chop. I agreed even though I'm sure I could have taken him. He had a 2:1 chip lead on me after busting the 3rd place guy. So we split W$650 and $72.

So does this count as an MTT win or a SnG win?

Hmmm, just by writing this post I just thought of something. Maybe I'm trying to make moves against players where I have no information about (because of constant table changes). Something to think about.

Weekend Tourney Results - I'm nobody's prodige.

Got a chance to play a bunch of tourneys on Fri and Sun night, most of them on Stars, and all of them with disappointing results.

Stars 180sng - Bubbled out. Top 10 in chips most of the tourney, couldn't hit my flops later in the tourney, and was being reraised pretty often. There should have been 1 hand where I could have done a re-reraise bluff.
Stars Turbo Shootout $1mil qualifier - Had no problem with my 1st table, had everybody read perfectly, and played headsup pretty good. A suckout kept opponent alive longer than he should have been. Sucked out on the final table, bunch of limpers, pushed on the BB with AQ. Called by ATs. Hits their flush, and I'm out.
Party turbo $20sng - played 2. 2nd in one, lost the other. These are pretty easy and fun. Should have won both, but sucked out 3 hands in a row in my losing one, and outkicked on my 2nd place won over an inferior opponent.
Titan Rio Won that one pretty easily.

Sunday
Stars 180sng - Bubbled out 23rd. Played well up until the end. 1 play that I remember now that I folded where I think now I should have called. 2 limpers, KK on the button. BB at 200, I raised to 1k. 20% of my stack. 1 EP caller. Flop = Axx, EP goes allin. I barely have him covered. If he hit his set, would probably have check raised. If he had an A, would he make that play? Now that I think about it I think he was on a draw.
$1mil qualifier - Made it headsup on my 1st table. I don't think I've ever played that bad headsup. Not too sure how you play an opponent that only calls or checks preflop. Hard to judge his holding. He ended up winning by slow playing pocket Ks when I hit top pair (Js) on the flop.
PSO League - I suck so bad on this league. I would have to come 1st on the next 5, and I still wouldn't be guaranteed a winner. This time I lost out on AJ vs 77. TPTK on the flop, etoss hit his set.
Daniel's Prodige - 36 man final qualifier, winner gets the live table seat. I play solid poker, make the final table with avg stack. Lost a few key pots, and I think I'm eliminated Ax vs QJ. Now that I think about it, I lost a lot of pots vs QJ, wtf.

That is all, I suck, but I know where I have to improve. I should read my MTT books, but just no time. Still haven't finished HOHvol2 yet, on the headsup section. Just got my Kill Phil book which looks interesting. On a side note, finally busted out of 888. Lost on BJ, then put the last $25 on the Millionaire Genie. Never hit. Was fun while it lasted!

Win, Lose, Sucky, Lucky

Title says it all, and that has pretty much been my gambling play as of late.

MTT = Sucky
PSO Leage event #4. Decided to change my gameplay to being aggressive early. Worked for a while, but then I just couldn't lay down KK preflop and lost most of my chips. Ended up going out with 88 vs QQ.

STT = Win/Lose
Played some Titan and Party sitngos the past couple of days. Titan won 1/3. My 2 losses were river flush suckouts. I think most of these players still think they only need 2 to 1 to see the river. Party won 1.5 / 3. Won a $20 speed sng, lost a $10, and came 3rd in a wsop step 1 (have to play step 1 again). My play was pretty good in the $20 one, except maybe one hand which I misplayed a scary flop (by being scared). The step tourney I should have won, 2 big suckouts. Both times my opponent thought I was stealing their blinds. 1st time I had AQ and they pushed with J2. Q and J on the flop, J on the turn. 2nd time I had KT vs K8. Flopped an 8, and I was done. I was surprised though, the level of play was pretty high in this sng.

Casino = Win/Lucky
888 I continue to win off of my $150 sitting in there from Refer a Friends. Pretty sure I'm up over $600 now. Been betting $25 a hand, 3 handed. If my balance reaches $250 I would withdraw. I even told myself if I lost that bet I would take the $75 and throw it into the Millionaire Genie slot. I guess I'm lucky it hasn't happened yet.

Starluck I got pretty lucky. A refer a friend netted me $50 to play with. Threw it in a slot and got this my 2nd spin.

Too bad I reduced my bet to $2.25 from $4.50. After the wr, I ended up only cashing out $350 though. Thanks Nardo, a 2x ownage bonus for the next casino you do through me!

Weekend blah blah

Went away this weekend to the nations capital, well actually the neighbouring city in Quebec, but Ottawa is easier to say. Actually got to hit a casino, but unfortunately in Quebec poker is illegal, and all the other table games were pretty much packed. Resorted to playing some slots and entered a $10 slots tournament. Its the funniest thing in the world watching clueless middle age ladies hammer on the spin button as fast as they can. "Hello, hitting the spin button while the reels are spinning won't activate your next spin!!!" These women were just going crazy, was pretty funny to watch. Of course I didn't win, winner had double what I did, so I pretty much wasted $10 ($60 in total) pressing buttons.

Played some online when I got home after watching Sopranos. Pretty good episode, strange turn of events. March has not been a good gambling month for me. Ups and downs, pretty much just spinning my wheels. On Riverbelle I keep getting the 2nd best hand. Set over Set, outkicked, split pots on monsters, KK vs AA, JJ vs QQ. After I finish up my bonus, I think thats it for ring games for the month, March stinks.

MTT Filled Weekend: 1out of 4 aint too bad, is it?

Sunday Feb 26 was a big MTT weekend for me.

3pm - Full Contact Poker: Daniel's Prodige. $30+3 Top 3 advance.
- 30 players entered this one. I pretty much stayed average stack the whole mtt. Whenever I got low I would use my allin to get back in. Once it got down to the final table, i was about 8/10. Top 4 paid $, top 3 advance to the 36man final qualifier. Winner moves to the Live table in Vancouver to become Daniel Negreanu's prodige. Play solid poker and people started dropping one by one. When it got down to the final 4, there were 2 huge stacks and myself and another with puny stacks (I had a slight advantage acting after though having less than 1sb than him. He luckily tripled up and I was on the verge of being blinded out next orbit. Then a strange thing happened. That guy raised preflop the next hand, one of the big stacks reraised allin, and dude called. He flipped over 22???? Big stack flipped over AQ, and flop came an A and it was over. Nobody at the table understood the play, maybe he didn't understand what was at risk. Oh well good for me, I get 3rd place $ (I think $150 or so) and move on. I think the tourney is end of Mar.

5pm - Bluff Magazine Fantasy Poker Challenge.
- 85 players, top 5 advance to final SnG (WSOP seat). Another top 5 of some advanced scoring formula based on how you did in this mtt and the regular FPC season, advance as well. I finished 50th in the regular challenge so i pretty much had to score top 5. Had some success early on, until I lost a coin flip QQ vs AK. Dwindled down and then got back up 88 vs Q7? I would have let him have it if he won, that was half his stack, no need to call. Stupid play of the tourney for me. I limped in with AJs UTG. SB called, BB checked. I end up allin with TPTK, SB wins with a straight with his 92o. I pretty much got nothing the rest of the tourney. Was thinking of pushing with a QJs one time but didn't, and that cost me a triple up. Ended up 23rd, highly doubt it was good enough.

6pm - Full Tilt - $200k guaranteed.
- 1100+ players, I qualified by winning a $24 SnG. This one pissed me off. 45mins into the tourney, was down to 1500+ from 2000 starting. In the BB with 33. 3 limpers and I check. Flop comed 537 rainbow. I check, UTG bets 1/2 pot, fold, SB goes allin, I go allin, UTG calls. UTG 99, SB 87, and me with my set. Turn comes a 9. Mother Fuc*er!!! Can't hit my 1 outer and I'm out. I would have been in great position with 4500 chips.

9pm - Poker Source Online Leage
- 130 players or so. At this point my head is not in the game. Let a few hands go early after being raised. Got all of it back +more when somehow I still win with my KQ with a board of KJ10xx. Then came the hand which normally I can let go, but not last night. QQ, standard raise in MP. Button calls. Garbage flop, I bet, raise 3x my bet, me allin, quick call, shows AA. I'm left with 20 chips, and out next hand when my 65o can't win!

I'm impressed with those guys who can keep focus playing online poker all day, all week, and x games going at once. Its draining sitting down in front of your computer for that long, and the mind fcking that goes on calculating and remembering every move. I don't think I have another Sunday like this.... yet!

Super Casino Tilt, Ace Club now rigged?

I'm usually pretty good at not tilting during my Blackjack play. Last night was a big exception. After enduring several beats while playing on Wild Jack poker, I closed off one of my poker tables and put on Ace Club. Now I was already on tilt from Ace Club having gone from $650 to $400 already. I proceeded to lose the last $400 in about 5 mins! I hate complainers about rigged software etc, but this was just unbelievable. The justification that I have that this is now "un-normal" is because Ace Club finally figured out the glitch they had in their system. Surrendering used to return 3/4 of your bet back! This would equate to an actual player advantage! Now that they fixed it, i guess they have to make their money back. Hopefully now that Party owns this thing, they'll just get rid of it.

edit: This is what I just got in my email

Congratulations! You are a winner at AceClub Casino

You have won $50 in our fantastic Valentine's Day $2,000 Cash Giveaway promotion.

...

Thanks you son of a bitches!!!!

Qualify Qualify Qualify

All I can do is qualify for big events, but can't win the big one. WTF is wrong with my game? Do I choke in the big ones, do I play too passive? I'm pretty sure I play better when I can set the tone earlier, which is not so necessary in the qualifity tournies. My MTT qualifying winning % has to be pretty up there, but I have absolute zero results to show for it. Kinda frustrating, all these hours for nothing more than experience. I guess I have to keep plugging away.

BTW, Rakeback Poker is sweet. I'm playing 5/10 6max there, and 40% rakeback adds up quickly! Its tracked right in the system how much rake you've earned, and you can redeem at any time. I think I have my new non bonus hunting site.
